- Dan Keplinger

Dan Keplinger, a local artist from Towson, was born with cerebral palsy and is best known for his large figurative paintings. In the past few years while working on his masters degree in art from Towson University, he has begun to explore ceramics and printmaking as well. In order to paint, draw and mold clay, he uses a type of helmet fitted with a paintbrush or other tool to work, as his most focused muscles are in his neck. In 2000, his story was the subject of the documentary “King Gimp,” which then won the Academy Award for short documentary.
