Mixed Media Jewelry

"When I set out to create this body of work, I began with the concept of "loss". Whether it is the loss of a loved one, the loss of a valuable object or even the loss of time, I wanted the viewer to feel a sense of curiosity, respect, and even a feeling of perhaps sadness. Many of the objects that I used were lost objects, otherwise known as waste to the majority of the population. I personally have a difficult time dealing with "loss" in general and wanted to create this body of works which would lead me to understand myself further. In the process, I hope to make my viewers pause and reflect on what they see and to take a moment to... feel. Inside you will find Idolatries-the worship of a physical object as a god or the immoderate attachment or devotion to something. These works are shown here in this virtual gallery, however they are best seen in person and up-close.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Every
object has a right to be heard. This statement I feel best encompasses
the idea behind the visions that I create. My works are a diverse combination
of many forms and many styles of the creative experience. They are a representation
and a reflection of my life and speaks of the world around me. Revealing
their persistence by extremes; at times, they are a romantic yet obscured
invitation to the process of Mixed Media. My hope is that they will express
a language that can be understood by all who view them. My greatest experience
is learning and I truly enjoy what I do-- making things.
