ARTIST STATEMENT
I choose birds as a subject because nature fills me with a sense of the ungraspable. This feeling drives me to paint. Also, even though we live in houses and play video games, it lifts me to think I’m actually a part of nature. I choose to see my paintings as sudden, chance-encounters with the natural world, like BOOOM…. here’s something beautiful you didn’t plan on experiencing today, or so and so Angel just came before you and filled you with optimism for such and such. Both revelatory and concrete feeling but also maybe just a dream. I aim to go into that mysterious space and celebrate it with ya’ll.
