Artist Statement

Emily Gaines Demsky makes bright paintings of flowers, the ultimate symbol of hope and possibility. The flower grows from a tiny seed, buried beneath the surface of the earth in the dark damp soil; the seed cracks open in the darkness, and pushes through the dirt and the deep to find the light.

In addition to painting, Emily is a writer, and a creator of tools to help curious people shift their perspective and shift their lives. Emily is the creator of the f/LIGHT DECK, and the founder of “Tell Me 3 Good Things” on Substack, a growing community practice where folks Notice, Name, + Share good things as an antidote to anxiety, burnout, and overwhelm.
